EDI Foundations: Data Collection to Community Change, Not your Ordinary Kindergarten Assessment

This session is for those who are new to the Early Development Instrument (EDI), providing a solid background on the content of the tool, how it is collected, reported and used. Participants will gain insights into how the EDI is fundamentally different from other kindergarten assessments and how the data collected by kindergarten teachers serves as a measurement bridge linking community to schools and linking early childhood to K-12. During the session, UCLA’s National EDI Project Director will provide an overview of the EDI basics and then representatives from Pomona and Newport Mesa will share how they have used (or are planning to use) the EDI as a catalyst for community change.
